SARAH JURRENS

Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Owner

WA License # LH61495450

OR License C9779

Welcome!
My name is Sarah Jurrens, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oregon State University, where my major coursework included Social and Cultural Perspectives and Systems Theory, with a focus on Social Justice.

I bring a wealth of life and professional experience to my work and continuously seek out the latest evidence-based practices to support treatment, techniques, and overall quality of life. I’m particularly passionate about deepening my understanding of ADHD and its impact—especially on women and individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. This includes exploring the safety and effects of psychopharmacological treatment options for ADHD.

Over the years, I’ve encountered many women who are striving to reclaim their values and desires from the expectations society has placed upon them. These expectations often breed shame and confusion around identity. It can feel daunting to step fully into oneself as an adult woman. That’s what inspired me to start this private practice over five years ago, fresh out of graduate school—with an idea, determination, and a whole lot of heart.

Watching it grow and witnessing women heal and flourish beyond what they ever imagined, has been a dream come true. And I’ve grown alongside them.

My focus shifted in recent years as I began working more extensively with ADHD clients. Through this work, I recognized many symptoms in myself, which led to my own assessment and diagnosis of ADHD-Inattentive Type at the age of 44. This personal discovery changed everything. Since then, ADHD has become a central specialty in my practice. I’ve immersed myself in learning—reading, watching, and listening to everything I could—and completed extensive training in executive functioning, disability support, psychopharmacology, trauma, skill development, and advocacy. I also earned certification as an ADHD Certified Clinical Specialist (ADHD-CCSP).

ADHD is now a deep passion of mine, alongside my foundational work in helping women recover from trauma and reconnect with their authentic selves. I’ve found that ADHD and trauma often intertwine, especially for those whose diagnosis was missed during childhood. Unpacking the shame that accumulates over years of feeling “not enough” is critical for healing. It’s an absolute honor to walk alongside women who are working hard to claim the life they deserve.

I hope you’ll join me and take that next step toward your own healing. I’d love to work with you.

Some other examples of what we may use as therapeutic aids and tools:

Creative Outlets for Self-Expression

Identity Exploration

Assertiveness Training

Reframing Negative Thoughts (CBT)

Quieting Your Inner Critic

Shame Reduction

Confidence Building

Creating a Healthy Attachment Style

Learning To Sit With Discomfort

Identifying Your Unique Motivation

Self-acceptance

Mindfulness Training

Music sharing and exploration to express emotions

Somatic techniques: connecting with your body

Identifying Multicultural Influences

Creating Structure From Chaos (routine and time management)

Allowing Chaos To Flow Through Structure (relaxing rigidity)

The basis of confidence is trust. Self-Confidence is technically just self-trust. When one trusts themselves, the rest begins to fall into place. Through exploration and tool acquisition in a therapeutic environment, the individual can attain the ability to build confidence within themselves and their external relationships. They will learn to create goals and meet them. Discover what it is that is causing symptoms such as depression and get to the root of things so they can be free of their suffering rather than just coping with the symptoms (although tools will be taught for coping too!).

SARAH JURRENS HAS COMPLETED EMDRIA APPROVED PHASE I AND PHASE II TRAINING AND CONSULTATION FOR EMDR.

WHAT IS EMDR?

For trauma, we provide an alternative to talk therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

"EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the
emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For
many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other
psychotherapies." (https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/)

Good Faith Estimate of Costs
You are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate that shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created.

The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill.

If you are billed for more than this Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.

You may contact the health care provider or facility listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the Good Faith Estimate. You can ask them to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, ask to negotiate the bill, or ask if there is financial assistance available.

You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about 4 months) of the date on the original bill.

There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this Good Faith Estimate. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the health care provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.

To learn more and get a form to start the process, go to
www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate
or the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.

When you receive a copy of your GFE, keep a copy in a safe place or take pictures of it. You may need it if you are billed a higher amount.
